Post-INDUSTRIAL Recycling

Material that has been diverted or recovered from the solid waste stream of a manufacturing process. It is material that never made it to the consumer market. Excluded from this category is scrap that would have gone back into the manufacturing process as a matter of course. It is also known as ”post-commercial,” or “industrial scrap.” Building materials made from post-industrial recycling include: METALS — Iron ore slag produce mineral wool insulation — Fly ash is recovered and used in concrete production — Structural steel — Concrete reinforcing bar — Aluminum louvers — Aluminum composite panels PLASTIC — Recycled PVC can be made into piping — Carpet — Toilet partitions GLASS — Bituminous paving MASONRY — Brick veneer — Landscape materials (brick chips) RUBBER — Flooring systems WOOD — Millwork PAPER — Acoustical ceiling tiles CERAMIC — Porcelain tile
